Solar constant

The term 'Solar constant' as it applies to the area of Earth observation can be defined as ' Aka total solar irradiance. The constant expressing the amount of solar radiation reaching the Earth from the sun, approximately 1370 watts per square meter. It is not, in fact, truly constant and variations are detectable'.

The term 'Solar constant' as it applies to the area of energy can be defined as ' The average amount of solar radiation that reaches the earth's upper atmosphere on a surface perpendicular to the sun's rays; equal to 1353 Watts per square meter or 492 Btu per square foot'.
